The best movie snacks for your new XYNGULAR waistline

The movies are one of the greatest past times...especially during the holidays. They're great for families, dates, and nights out with friends. But tempting movie snacks create a huge calorie overload.

It's not the outrageous price of the popcorn that's the biggest concern...it's the nutritional sabotage we should worry about.
You can take a tip from grandma and pack your own snacks or choose something that's not quite so bad for you at the concessions.

Eat before you go
It's a smart idea to have your meal before you head to the theater. At least have a LEAN Shake or your XYNG.

Pack your big purse
Pack an apple and a bag of pre-popped light or low-fat popcorn. Throw in some string cheese for protein. Grab a bottle of water. It's easy to mistake hunger for thirst, and water will keep you distracted long enough to get into the movie and forget any hunger. If you must have chocolate at every movie, pack a small bag of dark chocolate chips for only 80 calories for 1/4 of a cup. You'll even get some ORAC points with it!

Choose wisely at the concession stand
Soft pretzels are some of the healthiest options at the movies. Weighing in at 290 calories, they're a small meal, but they're probably fat free and low in fat. Popcorn, on the other hand, loads you up with as much as 600 calories and about 40 grams of fat.

If you must have chocolate, a half box of Junior Mints at 170 calories and 3 grams of fat works better than those bars at 240 or more calories and tons more fat. Make sure to share though or you'll have 340 calories. Little fruity snacks are lower in calories to, and have no fat. One serving has less than 200 calories. There are only 20 pieces in a serving, so share.

Swap soda for water
Pass on that usual vat of soda and choose a bottle of water instead. Having water keeps you busy, and less likely to feel you need a soda.

Head to the movies with a full tummy, and you'll have greater willpower for healthier choices. Bring your own snacks, and you'll have the best of everything! And enjoy the movie.

ACTION STEPS:
1. Shop ahead for movie treats you can take in a big purse.

2. Eat before you go.
